Product Description

A rail shoulder is a pre-inserted item in concrete sleepers, whether single stem or twin stem type, used to fix elastic rail clips (mainly e-clips) within the fastening system. We produce two primary types: cast-in shoulders and weld-on shoulders.

Casting Rail Shoulders

Cast-in shoulders are made from iron casting and are pre-embedded in concrete sleepers. They work with elastic clips to fasten the rail securely. Materials include M.C.I. (malleable iron) and S.G.C.I. (spheroid graphite iron), with other grades like QT600-3, QT700-2, ZG25, ZG35, and ZG45 available.

Standards: GB/T 1348-1988, NF EN 1563, ISO1038, DIN 1693, JIS G5502, KS D 4302, GOST 7293, BS EN 1563.

Weld-on Shoulder

Made by hot forging, these are used where standard sleepers are impractical. They are welded onto flat steel base plates to fabricate rail retaining units on steel ties and base plates, typically following AREMA standards. Applicable for Pandrol style clips ranging from 30lbs to 113lbs.

Special Rail Shoulder

Produced by hot forging using low or mid carbon steels, these are used with rail clip bolts and special rail clips for specific fastening requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the primary function of a rail shoulder?
A rail shoulder is used to secure elastic rail clips within the fastening system, keeping the rail fixed to the concrete or steel sleepers.
What materials are typically used for cast-in shoulders?
They are generally made from Spheroid Graphite Cast Iron (S.G.C.I.) or Malleable Cast Iron (M.C.I.), known for their durability and strength.
Can you provide shoulders according to international standards?
Yes, our products comply with major global standards including BS EN 1563, ISO1038, DIN 1693, and AREMA.
When should a weld-on shoulder be used instead of a cast-in shoulder?
Weld-on shoulders are ideal for locations where standard concrete sleepers cannot be easily used, requiring the shoulder to be welded directly onto flat steel base plates.
Do you support custom manufacturing for special rail shoulders?
Yes, we can produce special shoulders via hot forging using low or mid-carbon steel based on specific technical drawings.
What is your annual production capacity for rail shoulders?
We have a robust production capability of approximately 500,000 pieces per year to support large-scale railway projects.
